⚠️ Read this first: if you have not registered yet, use the registration link (e.g. "Register now") or invite code BINANBT — registering directly inside the app gets you none of the new-user rewards, and the $19,800 welcome package and 20% fee rebate will not apply. KYC is free; anyone selling "guaranteed approval" or an "internal channel" is a scammer.
Key takeaways (TL;DR):
- A failed Binance KYC check is usually a document, data-match or liveness problem, not a disqualification. Read the rejection reason and fix that one thing instead of uploading the same photo again.
- Counterintuitive point one: resubmitting repeatedly is the worst strategy. Binance limits identity-verification submissions (commonly 10 per day), and repeated failures can trigger stricter manual review. Stop and diagnose.
- Counterintuitive point two: identity verification and proof of address are different steps. Basic verification usually needs an ID plus a liveness check; proof of address is an extra requirement for higher tiers, certain payment rails or specific regions.
- Counterintuitive point three: an unverified account is not completely dead. Under current rules, new users cannot deposit, trade or withdraw until they complete Verified; some existing unverified accounts are placed in withdraw-only mode, which allows withdrawals but not deposits or trading. It is not a ban, but waiting makes it worse.
- Counterintuitive point four: buying an account, borrowing an identity or using a "KYC agent" is a double risk. The original owner may reclaim the funds, and your identity documents may be reused elsewhere.
- The correct sequence is: read the reason → change one variable → retake → resubmit → manual appeal. Keep screenshots at every step; you will need them if you appeal.
A rejected Binance KYC check is usually the automated system saying "I could not read this or it does not match", not "you are not allowed". Binance first runs document OCR, data matching and liveness detection. If any score is too low, the application is rejected. Humans usually enter only at the appeal stage.
So the fix is not "try again" but translating the rejection reason into a specific action: glare means retake, name order means correct the form, liveness failure means change the lighting and posture, duplicate ID means manual review only.

Registration, KYC and proof of address are three different things
Registration creates the account; KYC proves you are the person on the document; proof of address proves where you live. They have different requirements and different failure modes. Mixing them up leads to fixing the wrong thing.
| Stage | What you submit | What it establishes | Common failure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Registration | Email/phone, password | Creates the account | Code not arriving, region unsupported |
| Identity verification (Verified) | Government ID front and back + liveness | Name, date of birth and document number match you | Blurry photo, mismatched details, liveness failure |
| Proof of address (Verified Plus and similar) | Utility bill, bank statement, etc. | Confirms your residential address and unlocks higher limits or fiat rails | Name mismatch, document too old, unsupported type |
Under current Binance rules, new users must complete Verified before depositing, trading or withdrawing; some existing unverified accounts are placed in Withdraw Only mode. Higher tiers such as Verified Plus require extra documents in certain regions or payment channels and come with higher limits.1
There is no single global daily withdrawal number. The widely repeated "0.06 BTC/day unverified, 100 BTC/day verified" figures date from 2021. Binance now shows limits by region and account status on the identity verification page. Do not use old numbers to judge your situation.
Five reasons Binance KYC fails
Ranked by frequency: document quality, mismatched details and liveness failure come first; duplicate ID and regional restriction are less common but need a completely different response.
| Type | Typical message | Real cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Poor document photo | Blurry, glare, cropped, unreadable | Screen photo, flash, laminated card glare, missing corners | Retake with the original, see next section |
| 2. Mismatched details | Name/DOB/document number does not match | Name order, middle name, abbreviation, old surname, date format | Re-enter exactly as printed |
| 3. Liveness failure | Liveness not passed, face cannot be compared | Backlight, glasses glare, beauty filter, unstable network, appearance change | Change environment and retry |
| 4. Document already used | ID already linked to another account | Multiple accounts, bought account, identity theft | Manual appeal only; do not resubmit blindly |
| 5. Region/document unsupported | Region not served or document type not listed | Residence or issuing country outside coverage | Use a supported document or confirm local rules |
Type 4 needs a separate explanation
"Document already used" cannot be fixed by retaking photos. Binance generally allows one verified personal account per person (plus a small number of sub-accounts). If you are certain you never opened a second account, your identity may have been used by someone else; submit an explanation and your documents through official support for manual review. Do not Photoshop the document or switch identities to get around it — that turns "verification failed" into "fraudulent material".
Type 5 is not something to force
If the page says your region is not served by the global platform, changing networks or documents will not change your eligibility. Binance operates through different licensed entities in different countries (such as Binance.US and Binance Japan). Using a VPN to fake a region violates the terms and can trigger risk controls. It is not a solution.
Document photos: nine rules for a passable image
The automated check only cares about two things: can it read the document, and does the data match? Do all nine before resubmitting.
- Use the original document, not a photocopy, scan, screen photo or a photo of a photo.
- Use a dark, matte background and lay the document flat to avoid reflections.
- Use natural or soft indoor light and turn the flash off; laminated cards glare easily.
- Include all four corners, with a little background around the edges.
- Focus sharply: name, document number, date of birth and expiry must be legible.
- No filters, no beautification, no cropping or stitching.
- Use the rear camera; front cameras usually have worse resolution and focus.
- The document must be valid, not expired or about to expire.
- Capture one side per shot as prompted; do not put front and back in one image.
⚠️ Glare is the most common invisible killer. Many photos look clear to the eye, but a reflection on the laminate covers the document number and the OCR fails. Zoom in on the key fields before submitting.2
Seven reasons the liveness check fails
Liveness failure usually is not "you do not look like your photo"; it is light, obstruction, network or camera quality preventing the comparison. Adjust in this order:
- Face the camera with your whole face in the frame, not too far or too close.
- Remove glasses, hats and masks to avoid glare and occlusion.
- Avoid backlight: do not sit with a window or lamp behind you; light your face from the front.
- Turn off beauty mode, filters and virtual backgrounds; do not use a third-party camera.
- Keep the connection stable; a stall mid-check usually fails.
- Follow the prompts slowly; do not rush the movements or shake the phone.
- Prepare for appearance changes: a new beard, major weight loss, surgery or suddenly removing glasses can lower the match score. Use manual appeal with an explanation if needed.
If the page says multiple faces or twins were detected, you may need a short video statement holding your document, using the script support provides. Do not keep retrying the automated flow; ask official support for the template.3
Form details: names and expiry dates cause the most rejections
The system compares what you type with what it reads from the document, character by character. One space or one swapped order can count as a mismatch. Check five fields:
- Name order: fill surname and given name into the fields as requested; do not put the full name in one box.
- Middle names: do not omit a middle or patronymic name shown on the passport or ID.
- Abbreviations and spaces: no initials, no invented spaces or hyphens.
- Date of birth format: follow the day/month/year order the form asks for; do not swap 01/02.
- Document expiry: copy the expiry date, not the issue date.
One more common case: you changed your name (marriage, immigration, legal change) but the document is new and the account is old, or the reverse. Align everything with the currently valid document first; if the system will not allow the edit, contact support.
Proof of address: what actually qualifies
Proof of address is not always required. Basic Verified usually needs only an ID and liveness. Proof of address appears when you upgrade to a higher tier such as Verified Plus, use certain fiat channels, or live in a region that requires it.
A qualifying document usually meets four conditions:
- Shows your name, matching the account name;
- Shows the full residential address;
- Comes from an official or regulated issuer: utility bill, bank statement, government letter, tax notice;
- Is recent: commonly within the last 3–6 months, depending on the page.
Usually rejected: mobile top-up receipts, courier labels, handwritten receipts, screenshots, online shopping orders and marketing mail. Accepted types and validity periods differ by region. Read the list on the page instead of guessing.
⚠️ Do not edit a bill to "make the address work". Altered documents count as fraud, which is far worse than a failed verification and can lead to a permanent restriction.
How long review takes and what not to do meanwhile
A normal Binance identity review takes about 48 hours, but peak periods, manual review or questionable documents can take longer. The estimated time on the page is an estimate, not a promise.
After submitting:
- Do not resubmit: your application is already in the queue; duplicates do not speed it up and may trigger risk controls.
- Do not change account details: changing your name, phone or region while under review makes the application inconsistent.
- Watch email and in-app notifications: requests for extra documents usually have a deadline.
- Screenshot the submission: time, application ID and page message are useful for an appeal.
Binance limits identity-verification submissions (commonly 10 per day). If you have failed several times, stop and diagnose instead of using attempts as lottery tickets. Repeated failures can move the account into stricter manual review.
Still rejected: how to file a manual appeal
Manual appeal is for problems self-service cannot solve. The key is not a polite message; it is material that explains the rejection. Prepare:
- The rejection screenshot, including the exact reason and application time.
- Clear photos of the original document, front and back, all corners.
- Account details: registered email/phone, UID, registration date.
- A short note on what changed: for example, "the previous photo had glare over the document number; this one was taken with the original in natural light".
- Special-case evidence: name-change certificate, duplicate-ID explanation, or a video statement for twins/multiple faces as support requests.
Submit through in-app support or the official Help Center ticket form. Do not search for a "Binance support phone number" and do not add "official support" on Telegram or WhatsApp.
After submitting, wait. Opening five tickets for the same issue only slows everything down.
Five things you must never do
Any of these can turn "verification failed" into "account permanently restricted" or "funds lost".
- Buy an account or borrow someone's identity. The account is not in your name, so ownership is ambiguous; the original holder can reclaim it and you can lose both the money and the account.
- Use a third-party "KYC agent" or "guaranteed approval" service. They usually ask for ID photos, a liveness video and sometimes your password — enough to impersonate you.
- Photoshop documents or alter bills. Once detected, the usual outcome is not "submit again" but an immediate restriction.
- Use a VPN to fake your residence. It violates the terms, can trigger risk controls, and does not change eligibility when a region is not served.
- Send documents through unofficial channels. Submit only through the Binance app or official Help Center, never to a "support agent" on a personal account.
⚠️ Official support never asks for your password, 2FA codes or seed phrase, and never asks you to share your screen. Anyone who does is a scammer.
Regional differences: the global platform is not available everywhere
Binance KYC is tied to your residence and the issuing country of your document. Products, tiers and limits differ by region.
- US users should use Binance.US, a separate company with its own KYC; the global platform does not apply.
- Japanese users use Binance Japan, under local regulation.
- Some countries and regions are not served by the global platform, or only have limited features. If the page says unsupported, do not fake an address to get around it.
- Document types differ in acceptance within the same region; passports are usually the most portable, while national IDs and driving licences depend on the page's list.
The only reliable test is the regional notice shown on the registration and verification page at that moment, not someone else's tutorial.

FAQ
Can I resubmit after a failed Binance KYC check?
Yes, but fix the cause first instead of uploading the same image. Binance limits verification submissions (commonly 10 per day), and repeated failures can trigger stricter manual review.
How long does Binance KYC take?
A normal review takes about 48 hours; peak periods or manual review take longer. The estimate on the page is not a promise. Do not change account details or resubmit while it is under review.
Why does the Binance liveness check keep failing?
Move to front-facing natural light, remove glasses and hats, turn off beauty filters, keep the network stable and follow the prompts slowly. If the page reports multiple faces or twins, submit the video statement support requests instead of retrying endlessly.
What if Binance says my ID is already linked to another account?
If you are certain you never opened a second account, submit your document and an explanation to official support for manual review. Do not buy an account, borrow an identity or alter documents; that turns a verification problem into a restricted account.
Does Binance require proof of address?
Basic verification usually needs only an ID and liveness. Proof of address is generally required for higher tiers such as Verified Plus, certain fiat channels or specific regions. Check the document list on the verification page.
What can an unverified Binance account do?
Under current rules, new users cannot deposit, trade or withdraw until verification is complete; some existing unverified accounts are placed in withdraw-only mode, which allows them to withdraw existing assets but not deposit or trade. It is not a ban, but the longer you wait, the more of the platform you cannot use.
Can someone else get my Binance KYC approved?
No. Third-party "agents" ask for your ID, liveness video and sometimes your password, which is enough to impersonate you, and Binance does not authorise individuals to perform verification. Submit only through the app or official Help Center.
What if my name changed and the KYC details no longer match?
Update the account to match your current valid document. If the system will not allow it, prepare the name-change certificate and both documents and contact official support for manual review. Do not use an old document or edit an image.
