DCA Calculator
Bitcoin DCA (Dollar-Cost Averaging) means buying a fixed amount of BTC at regular intervals, without trying to time the market. This calculator has two modes: Forward projection projects returns from an assumed annual rate, and Backtest replays real year-end prices from 2013 to today.
How it’s calculated
Forward projection uses the annuity formula: periodic rate i = (1+annual)^(1/periods-per-year) − 1, final value = investment × [(1+i)^n − 1] ÷ i. Backtest converts each period’s investment into BTC at that year’s closing price, then values the stack at the current price.
Why DCA works
DCA’s core edge is a lower average cost: a fixed amount buys more when price is low and less when high, so your average cost is always below the simple average of prices over the same period. Even starting at the 2021 top and holding through the 2022 bear, steady DCA pulls average cost down sharply.
