TL;DR: the one-sentence summary
Bottom line: the OKX lifecycle is four steps — sign up (with KYC) → deposit → trade → withdraw. The first three are well covered elsewhere; this article puts its weight on step four, "withdraw," because it's where mistakes become permanent. There is exactly one iron rule for withdrawal: the network, the address, and the amount must match character for character — get one wrong and the funds can be lost forever. Use a referral code at sign-up for a 20% fee rebate. For depositing, beginners should start with C2C to buy USDT. For withdrawing, remember one line: USDT defaults to TRC20 (about 1 USDT, fastest); switch to ERC20 (about 1.5 USDT) only when the receiver only supports it. The fee is deducted from the amount you send and OKX can change it anytime, so always confirm the live fee and minimum on the withdrawal screen. Below we go step by step, with a network-comparison table and a "not arriving" troubleshooting table for the withdrawal part12.
The full flow in four steps
Get the whole shape in your head first, so you never feel lost:
| Step | What you do | Key point |
|---|---|---|
| ① Sign up | Create the account + KYC | Use a referral code for a rebate; without KYC you can't withdraw |
| ② Deposit | Fund the account (C2C / on-chain / card) | Beginners: C2C to buy USDT |
| ③ Trade | Spot / futures / earn | Covered elsewhere — see Further reading |
| ④ Withdraw | Send coins to a wallet or another exchange | Match network + address + amount |
The first three steps put money in; the fourth takes it out. Getting the "in" steps wrong costs you a bit of time or a resubmit. Getting the "out" step wrong (network or address) is often a permanent loss. That's why this article leans heavily on step four.
Step 1: sign up (with referral code)
Signing up is the fastest step, but two preconditions decide whether you can withdraw later. Don't skip them:
Sign up with a referral code for a fee rebate. Registering binds the code to your account, and you get a 20% rebate on trading fees:
- Register: OKX Registration
- Referral code: 60895497
Finish KYC right after signing up. KYC has two levels — Lv.1 basic verification lets you trade day-to-day; Lv.2 advanced verification (ID + face scan) unlocks full limits and deposit/withdrawal. Withdrawal is an off-ramp operation, so it's blocked until KYC is done — don't discover this only when you want to withdraw.
The step-by-step screens, ID photo tips, and review times are already covered in detail in the OKX Registration Guide: Account, KYC & Deposit — jump there rather than repeating it here.
⚠️ One key warning: sign up and download the app only from official channels — never click a fake phishing site from a search engine. For how to verify the developer name, package, and domain, see the OKX Download & Install guide.
Step 2: deposit (three ways)
📺 Want to follow along step by step? Watch the OKX C2C buy USDT video tutorial.
Once KYC is done, fund the account. Three ways, ordered by beginner-friendliness:
| Method | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| C2C (recommended for beginners) | First deposit, fiat-to-crypto | Buy USDT from a merchant with fiat; funds are escrowed by the platform |
| On-chain deposit | You already hold crypto elsewhere | Send coins in; make sure the network matches |
| Express buy / card | You have a supported card | Price includes fees; limits vary by region |
The C2C skeleton: go to "Buy crypto → C2C" → enter the amount (e.g. 1000 CNY) → pick USDT → choose a merchant → pay via the method the merchant provides (Alipay / WeChat / bank transfer) → tap "I have paid" → the merchant releases the coins.
Three things when picking a merchant: high 30-day completed orders, high completion rate, a reasonable payment window. Three red lines when paying: leave the transfer note blank, use your own verified account, and match the amount exactly. For deeper C2C merchant selection and anti-freeze tips, see the Binance C2C buying guide (the principles apply to OKX).
The full deposit walkthrough (on-chain network/memo checks, "deposit not arriving" troubleshooting) is in the deposit section of the OKX Registration Guide.
Step 3: withdraw (the risky part)
Withdrawing is the only step in the whole flow where a mistake can't be undone. Burn the iron rule into your head first:
🔴 Withdrawal iron rule: the network, the address, and the amount must match character for character. Once a withdrawal is on-chain it can't be reversed — get the network or address wrong and the funds can be lost forever, with no recovery from OKX.
Three things before you withdraw
- Confirm KYC is done (withdrawal is blocked otherwise — see Step 1).
- Set up Google Authenticator (2FA). Withdrawals require a code plus 2FA; this is your last line of defense.
- Optional: enable the address book / whitelist. Pre-register your common withdrawal addresses so future withdrawals can only go to registered addresses — it prevents both typos and theft.
Withdrawal steps
- Go to Assets → Withdraw
- Pick the coin (e.g. USDT)
- Pick the network (default TRC20 — see the next section)
- Paste the withdrawal address, and fill the memo/tag for coins that need one
- Enter the amount — the screen shows the live fee and minimum
- Confirm, then enter your SMS/email code + Google Authenticator code
- Submit, then wait for "OKX processing → on-chain confirmation → received"
⚠️ Don't forget the memo/tag: coins like XRP, XLM, EOS and ATOM need a memo/tag in addition to the address. Missing or wrong memo/tag means the funds don't reach your account (especially common when depositing to an exchange). Watch the on-screen prompt for these coins.
Which network: TRC20 / ERC20 / BEP20
The same coin (say USDT) runs on several networks, and picking the wrong one is the most common withdrawal accident. The three main networks compared:
| Network | Fee (USDT) | Speed | When to use |
|---|---|---|---|
| TRC20 (Tron) | ~1 USDT | Fastest (1-5 min) | Default choice for almost everything |
| ERC20 (Ethereum) | ~1.5 USDT | Slower | Only when the receiver supports only ERC20 |
| BEP20 (BSC) | Lower | Fast | Sending to Binance / BSC wallets |
The decision isn't really "which network is better" but "which network does the receiver support":
- To another exchange: open the "Deposit" page there, pick the same coin, see which networks it offers, and fill in exactly the network and address it gives you.
- To a wallet: confirm which network the wallet supports for this coin, then pick the matching network on OKX.
- The classic accident: sending TRC20 USDT to a wallet that only has an ERC20 address. The address may look similar and be recognized, but it's the wrong chain — the funds are gone.
💡 Remember it in one line: USDT withdrawals default to TRC20, unless the receiver explicitly only supports another network.
Withdrawal fees & minimums (table)
The withdrawal fee is deducted from the amount you send, and OKX can change it anytime. The table below is third-party data checked 2026-09-10 — always confirm the live numbers on the withdrawal screen before submitting:
| Coin / network | Withdrawal fee (approx.) | Minimum withdrawal |
|---|---|---|
| USDT / TRC20 | 1 USDT | 10 USDT |
| USDT / ERC20 | 1.5 USDT | 20 USDT |
| BTC / mainnet | 0.0004 BTC | 0.001 BTC |
| ETH / ERC20 | 0.0009 ETH | 0.01 ETH |
Three things to note:
- The fee is subtracted, not charged separately: withdrawing 100 USDT on TRC20 gives you 99 USDT.
- You can't withdraw below the minimum: so don't "test with a tiny amount" below 10 USDT — it may be rejected outright.
- BTC: mainnet for large amounts, Lightning for small ones. Lightning has near-zero fees and a 0.000001 BTC minimum, but the receiver must support a Lightning address (hardware wallets generally don't) — cold storage still uses mainnet.
Withdrawal not arriving? Troubleshooting table
If nothing arrives after hours, don't panic and don't submit a new withdrawal. Match the symptom to this table:
| Symptom | Most likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Status stuck on "processing" | Large amount / risk-triggered manual review | Wait for review; if risk-blocked, follow the prompt to submit more info |
| Shows "completed" but wallet is empty | Still confirming on-chain (slow network) | Look up the txid in a block explorer and check confirmations |
| No on-chain transaction at all | Wrong network/address, or address isn't the receiver's | Compare the network and address in the record against the receiver |
| Exchange says "invalid address" | Address format / network mismatch | Go back to the receiver's Deposit page and re-copy the matching network's address |
| Coins arrived on the wrong network | Network picked wrong (the address itself may be fine) | Recovery depends on whether that network is supported — often impossible |
| "Withdrawal limit exceeded / restricted" | KYC level too low or a limit was triggered | Finish higher-level KYC or wait for the limit to lift |
The general order: first look up the transaction's on-chain status in a block explorer to see whether the coins actually left and where they're stuck, then decide. No on-chain transaction means it's stuck in OKX's processing (review / risk control); an on-chain transaction that's unconfirmed just means the network is slow — wait.
🔴 Can a wrong network be recovered? In some cases (wrong network but the address is the same character set, and the receiving chain supports it) you can try a self-service recovery tool, but it's never guaranteed. If the address itself is wrong and controlled by someone else, recovery is essentially impossible. That's why "test with a small amount first" beats any recovery method.
The four most common beginner mistakes
Mistake 1: discovering KYC wasn't done only when you try to withdraw. Withdrawal is a hard gate — finish KYC right after signing up.
Mistake 2: withdrawing on a network the receiver doesn't support. This is the costliest withdrawal mistake — wrong chain, funds gone. Check the receiver's supported network before you send.
Mistake 3: skipping 2FA and the address whitelist, then scrambling after something goes wrong. These are the last line of defense. The address whitelist in particular prevents both typos and theft.
Mistake 4: re-submitting a withdrawal that hasn't arrived without checking why. Sending again before diagnosing just repeats the same problem and may double the fee. Check the on-chain status first.
FAQ
Q1: Do I need KYC before withdrawing? Yes — KYC is the off-ramp gate. Finish advanced verification right after signing up.
Q2: TRC20 or ERC20? Default TRC20 (~1 USDT, fast); use ERC20 (~1.5 USDT) only when the receiver supports only it. The core rule is that network and address must match.
Q3: What are the fees and minimums? The fee is deducted from the amount and can change anytime. Reference: USDT-TRC20 ~1 USDT / min 10; USDT-ERC20 ~1.5 USDT / min 20; confirm the live screen values.
Q4: Wrong network or address — recoverable? Wrong network with the same character set can sometimes be recovered, never guaranteed; a wrong address controlled by someone else is essentially unrecoverable. Test with a small amount first.
Q5: How long does it take? OKX processes within minutes (larger amounts may need manual review), then TRC20 ~1-5 min, ERC20/BTC typically 10 min to over an hour.
